Review:: Mane ‘n Tail Shampoo and Conditioner

I have long suffered from the struggle of being indecisive regarding my hair.  I want it straight, I want it wavy, I want my hair to my waist, I want it to my chin…. I hope I’m not the only one who has decided on a whim to make a drastic change, loved it for five minutes and then spent the next three months crying about it.  My hair is now three or so inches below my shoulders and I want it to grow about another six inches.. Like yesterday would be nice!

I remember as a kid my mom buying this shampoo and I don’t remember it making a huge difference.  One day while wandering through Ross ( which I often do and need to stop!) I saw this shampoo and conditioner in the beauty section and decided that for $3.99 each I would give them a try.  Here is the verdict….

Nothing, absolutely nothing.  I didn’t notice my hair growing any faster or getting stronger after almost 10 weeks of use.

The Breakdown::

Shampoo:: This product cleans the hair fairly well.  I follow the rule of shampoo twice and condition once. I feel like this shampoo cleaned my hair well as it removed two (or more…) days of dry shampoo build up but didn’t strip my hair of any oils.

Conditioner:: This was not win for me.  I didn’t feel like it really conditioned my hair and lets not even go to detangling! If this was formulated to condition a horses hair, which is thicker and coarser then mine  why was it such a struggle to comb through?! I don’t always use a leave in conditioner/detangler on my hair but I started to after using this conditioner.

Bottom Line:: I have friends who use this system and swear by it.  But for me I didn’t see enough of change to warrant me purchasing again. It is on the cheaper side so if you are curious give it a try and let me know your results.  I could just be the anomaly that this system won’t work for!

Do you have any products that you use for growing longer and stronger hair?  Let me know, I would love to try them!

  1. Having read this I thought it was really informative.

    I appreciate you taking the time and effort to put this informative article together.
    I once again find myself personally spending a lot of time both reading and leaving comments.
    But so what, it was still worth it!
