CoverGirl Plumpify Mascara by blastPRO + CoverGirl Colorlicious Oh Sugar

I’ve got two new CoverGirl products to share with you today!!

The First is the Plumpify Mascara by blastPRO.

PicMonkey Collage789.jpg

Its a bit hard to tell in the picture but the brush on this mascara wand has a a rounded tip and the bristles are in a spiral.  Compared to other mascara that I use the brush is huge! I was seriously afraid I was going to poke myself in the eyeball using this.

IMG_0884

as you can see in the picture above my left eye has the mascara on and my right eye is bare.  With one coat my lashes were definitely lifted and lengthened as you can see in the picture.

IMG_0888

Somehow I managed to not poke out my eyeball with the ginormous wand and applied two coats to each eye for the result you see below.

IMG_0892

Pretty nice right?!  And forgive the unfilled brows 🙂

Here is what CoverGirl had to say about the mascara::: “For lashes that look darker, fuller and more voluminous, you need to lift them from the root.  Plumpify’s brush has a unique mix of conical bristles and fins that will grip, lift, load and comb lashes for 50x more volume. ”

Lara says::: Volume? Yes. 50x more volume. Uhhh… nope.  However does this mascara do a good job of giving your lashes volume and length? Absolutely!  I have lots of mascaras that I like and I’m more then happy to add this to my rotation and I would definitely consider picking this up from the drugstore.

Up next is the CoverGirl Colorlicious Oh Sugar! in Soda

PicMonkey Collage159.jpg

CoverGirl Says::: ” Pamper your lips with an indulgent lip balm, Oh Sugar! made with ultra-rich ingredients such as grapeseed oil, avocado butter, and Vitamins C and E and leaves your lips with a hint of tint.  We dare you to compare to a $20 balm!”

IMG_0901

Lara Says::: This is a clearly Covergirl trying to dupe Fresh Sugar balms.  And I’m ok with that.  I was doing my best to try and figure out the scent because it felt so familiar but I couldn’t figure it out. Its a sweet candy citrus scent.  While I like this, I don’t know if I  like it enough that I would pick it up in the drugstore.  After wearing for a few hours and eating a piece of pizza the inner of my lips had the color rubbed off and I was left with the look of darker outlined lips.  So this doesn’t wear off evenly, it is good but not great.

PicMonkey Collage4444.jpg

Me with the mascara and lip balm.  And yes I take pictures in my car because 1. The lighting in my house sucks. 2. I’m a busy person and its easier to snap selfies in my car on the way to wherever I’m  going (safely of course, in parking lots or red lights) and 3. Because I want to dang it!

August 2014 Ipsy Bag

photo 1

Its Finally Here!!! I feel like Ipsy comes later every month, but maybe I’m crazy… No I’m not because I used to get this before my Birchbox and this came almost 2 weeks after my Birchbox… Anywho lets see what this pink package of amazingness holds for me!

photo 2

The bag is cute as this months theme is “Beauty Schooled” and its a pencil bag!  I like the design with the orange polka dots but it does have that strong weird plastic smell….

First up we have….

 photo 3

Dr. Brandt’s Pores No More, I’ve heard great things about this so I’m interested to try it.

Ipsy Says:: A cult favorite, Pores No More Pore Refiner Primer is Dr. Brandt’s quick fix for flawless, photo-ready skin. It is the miracle base to create the perfect skin canvas for long-lasting makeup and well-preserved skin. This velvety formula absorbs excess oil, minimizes pores, blurs fine lines and is resistant to sweat and humidity. Prime, touch-up and treat while perfecting your makeup.

Key Benefits:
    – Minimizes the appearance of pores by diffusing light
    – Blurs imperfections & lines
    – Erases shine & mattifies skin
    – Absorbs oil, reduces shine and helps regulate sebum production
    – Antibacterial action for a healthy skin
    – Acts as a shield to prevent make-up from clogging pores

Lara Says:: The texture of this reminds me of Too Faced Primed and Poreless Skim Smoothing Face Primer which I like.  But this has a definite strange smell, like an earthy, grass like smell… I don’t know it just smells funny, but I didn’t notice it too much after I rubbed in into my hand.

Ipsy Says:: Treat your lips with this ultra-moisturizing lip balm from Absolute New York. This lightly tinted, creamy, conditioning formula softens, smooths, and protects lips for a seriously kissable pout. Discover this must-have balm for sensationally soft and luscious lips!

Lara Says:: :I cannot tell you how disappointed I am that this is not Green!  How can you have a lip balm in the flavor Green Apple and it not be Green!!  In other news, this seems like a good formula and I’m almost out of my Rose Salve that I keep at my desk at work so this shall be the new desk lip balm.

Somehow this didn’t make it in the group picture… Hmm kinda like school yearbook pictures!

PicMonkey Collage789

Ipsy Says:: Bigger. Blacker. Badder. Urban Decay’s ultra-creamy, lengthening and volumizing mascara features triple-black pigments and a deeply nourishing ingredient blend. Perversion Mascara gets you sexy in one stroke, yet it won’t quit until you say when.

Lara Says:: I’ve heard a lot about this product because it was WAY hyped up.  From what I’ve heard from people who have tried it, its a good mascara but its not phenomenal so we shall see…  and for real what is up with makeup brands making everything sexual?!  Not a fan, but that’s a post for another day…

 PicMonkey Collage123

Ipsy Says:: Coastal Scents Forever Blush boasts 18 perfectly pigmented, powder blushes with a long-lasting rush of color. Complete with a mirror, these color-packed compacts go a long way.

Lara Says:: I have not tried any Coastal Scents make up products but I do have an eye shadow brush that I like that I received in a past Ipsy Bag. From first swatch theses are soft and seem blendable.  According to the website I received the colors ‘Elegant’ and ‘Fresh’ , they are not marked on the packaging but according to a quick web search the shimmer pink is ‘Elegant’ and the matte peachy brown is ‘Fresh’.

PicMonkey Collage456

Ipsy Says:: Sensual and exotic, that’s the effect that Silk Kajal Kohl Eye Pencil delivers. Just like the traditional Kohl, but with the modern ease and control of a pencil. Giving a semi-matte finish that is also smudgeable, Silk Kajal Kohl’s soft tip is ophthalmologically-tested and gentle enough to be used on the inner eye.

Lara Says:: New brand so I’m excited to try this out! The last picture is after I left the liner for about a minute and then ran my finger down it.  So it looks like its smudge-able but also has staying power if you just want a dark line.  There will definitely be a review to come on this product.

Review:: Be A Bombshell….Lash Out Mascara

PicMonkey Collage

I received a full size mascara in my Birchbox and my Ipsy bag this month.  I love me some mascara so I was excited to try both of them out.  First off this mascara has a horrible smell, I mean like really really bad.  I debated even using it but I figured what wouldn’t hurt and hopefully I wouldn’t smell it on my eyelashes.

photo 1 (5)

No Mascara, it is looking mighty scary!!

photo 2 (5)

One coat on the left eye, no mascara on the right.  I don’t think this picture really shows it well but with one coat all this really did was coat my lashes.  There was a little definition but not any volume and not much curl.

photo 3 (3)

Whoo Hoo now both eyes have a smelly mascara coating…

photo 4 (2)

And with two coats on the right eye, you really can’t tell much of a difference.  If you read my post on the Mally volumizing mascara that I got in my Birchbox, there was a huge difference between one and two coats.

photo 5

So… Finally verdict?  Not worth the $15.00  The smell is enough not to repurchase but I felt like this mascara ‘coated’ my lashes.  There was a little definition, but no volume or length added.

Be A Bombshell…Lash Out Mascara $15.00

Mally Volumizing Mascara $20.00

Birchbox $10.00 a month

Ipsy $10.00 a month

Review:: Mally Beauty Volumizing Mascara

PicMonkey Collage89

If you read my post on Monday about my June Birchbox you will know I received a Mally mascara.  I have never used anything from this brand so I was super excited to give it a try, and you all know I love me some mascara.

Lets take a look at what my lashes look like without mascara so we can see if this will really make a difference.

photo 11

It is hard to see in the above picture but I promise I have a few eyelashes!

photo 22

Ok this is a better picture.  As you can see in the first picture, my lashes are straight and stick out, not a lot of curl so its hard to see them looking straight on.

photo 33

Alright as you can see there is a little more definition but not a lot of curl.

photo 44

Now we are getting somewhere!  The second coat give me a lot more volume and also a bit of lift.

photo 3 (2)12

Wow, can you tell the difference between one and two coats of this stuff? Ready for a better picture to really show the difference?

photo 4 (2)

And do you notice my lashes don’t look clumpy? I really think I could have gone for coat three and been alright.  I wore this mascara for over nine hours and did not notice any flaking or smudging  and the mascara doesn’t have a funny smell like some tend to. This is a win for me, this was worth my whole Birchbox!!

Be A Bombshell…. Lash Out Mascara

One of the brands that Ipsy introduced me to is Be A Bombshell.  I have liked all the products that I have tried so I’m excited to try this mascara.  However, it stinks, like really stinks!  Hopefully I won’t be able to smell it on my eyelashes…

Marc Anthony  Dream Waves Beach Spray

Who doesn’t want beachy waves for summer?  I’m  excited to try this out. It smells like a beach, coconut and sunscreen; take me to the beach stat!!  I have used beach sprays in the past, but now I usually make my own.  Look out for that recipe to come soon!

NYX Butter Gloss in Crème Brulee

If you haven’t gotten on the Butter Gloss band wagon, you need to jump right on.  Seriously, stop reading this and head to Ulta, Target, wherever you can get NYX; I’ll wait…. Ok are you back? Good.  Now if you have the patience of Job and somehow haven’t yet opened up the tube of buttery goodness, please do so now… Not only does it smell delicious but it is so smooth and glossy… this makes my Ipsy bag, Thank you!!

PicMonkey Collage123

Ofra Universal Brow Pencil

This is a new brand to me and I love trying brow products so I will let you guys know how this pans out.  I will say this, I’m not sure how “Universal” this pencil is.  Granted it doesn’t have a red tint like a lot of brow pencils do, but I can see it possibly being too dark for those with light brows… We shall see.

PicMonkey Collage2323

Realtree For Her

This is also a new brand for me, yay for new brands and products!!  With one spritz I smelled orchids and amber.  It is a nice floral woodsy scent.  According to their website Realtree for Her opens with “the sweet taste of pomegranate, a hint of persimmon and an exotic scent of orchids. It blends with lotus blossom and champaca flower and it’s followed by the rich scent of amber, the transient scent of violets and the depth of mahogany wood.”

Smashbox Full Exposure Mascara

Hey Everyone!

Today I bring you a review of Smashbox Full Exposure Mascara.  I received a sample somewhere, I don’t remember but I was cleaning out my makeup and found it and thought I would give it a try and let you know what I thought.

s1315902-main-hero

First things first lets see what my eyelashes look like without anything on them…

PicMonkey Collage

Yeah pretty hum drum… Now lets see the beginning of the lash transformation, It should be pretty obvious that my left eye is the one with mascara.

PicMonkey Collage1

and the finished look, Picture on the left is my lashes with no mascara and the one on the right is two coats of the Smashbox Full Exposure Mascara.

PicMonkey Collage3

So what is the verdict?  The Verdict is Blah, yes I said Blah.  This is an OK mascara, I didn’t feel that it delivered any results that I haven’t had  with a drugstore mascara and in fact there are several drugstore mascaras I like better then this one.  Also a lot of product gloops up on the end of the brush.  It is definitely not worth the $19.50 that this retails for.

Victoria Secret Volume Plump Mascara

I am always on the hunt for the ultimate mascara.  I really don’t think it is too much to ask that my mascara, volumize, define, lengthen and overall just be awesome.  But apparently it is because I have yet to find said mascara.  But on my holy grail journey I have come across a few winners and I am going to share one with you today.  Victoria Secret Volume Plump Mascara is just what it’s name says it is volume!  This is not a waterproof formula and I have noticed on particularly humid days when I am outside that this mascara can sometimes transfer to my eyelids.  But over all it is a good formula and the picture below is my lashes with two coats.

This Mascara Retails for $15 at Victoria Secret

Have you ever used a Victoria Secret Mascara?  What were your results? I love to hear from my readers!
