Review:: Be A Bombshell….Lash Out Mascara

PicMonkey Collage

I received a full size mascara in my Birchbox and my Ipsy bag this month.  I love me some mascara so I was excited to try both of them out.  First off this mascara has a horrible smell, I mean like really really bad.  I debated even using it but I figured what wouldn’t hurt and hopefully I wouldn’t smell it on my eyelashes.

No Mascara, it is looking mighty scary!!

One coat on the left eye, no mascara on the right.  I don’t think this picture really shows it well but with one coat all this really did was coat my lashes.  There was a little definition but not any volume and not much curl.

Whoo Hoo now both eyes have a smelly mascara coating…

photo 4 (2)

And with two coats on the right eye, you really can’t tell much of a difference.  If you read my post on the Mally volumizing mascara that I got in my Birchbox, there was a huge difference between one and two coats.

So… Finally verdict?  Not worth the $15.00  The smell is enough not to repurchase but I felt like this mascara ‘coated’ my lashes.  There was a little definition, but no volume or length added.

Be A Bombshell…. Lash Out Mascara

One of the brands that Ipsy introduced me to is Be A Bombshell.  I have liked all the products that I have tried so I’m excited to try this mascara.  However, it stinks, like really stinks!  Hopefully I won’t be able to smell it on my eyelashes…

Marc Anthony  Dream Waves Beach Spray

Who doesn’t want beachy waves for summer?  I’m  excited to try this out. It smells like a beach, coconut and sunscreen; take me to the beach stat!!  I have used beach sprays in the past, but now I usually make my own.  Look out for that recipe to come soon!

NYX Butter Gloss in Crème Brulee

If you haven’t gotten on the Butter Gloss band wagon, you need to jump right on.  Seriously, stop reading this and head to Ulta, Target, wherever you can get NYX; I’ll wait…. Ok are you back? Good.  Now if you have the patience of Job and somehow haven’t yet opened up the tube of buttery goodness, please do so now… Not only does it smell delicious but it is so smooth and glossy… this makes my Ipsy bag, Thank you!!

Ofra Universal Brow Pencil

This is a new brand to me and I love trying brow products so I will let you guys know how this pans out.  I will say this, I’m not sure how “Universal” this pencil is.  Granted it doesn’t have a red tint like a lot of brow pencils do, but I can see it possibly being too dark for those with light brows… We shall see.

Realtree For Her

This is also a new brand for me, yay for new brands and products!!  With one spritz I smelled orchids and amber.  It is a nice floral woodsy scent.  According to their website Realtree for Her opens with “the sweet taste of pomegranate, a hint of persimmon and an exotic scent of orchids. It blends with lotus blossom and champaca flower and it’s followed by the rich scent of amber, the transient scent of violets and the depth of mahogany wood.”

December 2013 Ipsy Bag

Does anyone else do a happy dance when they see this familiar pink package come in the mail?!?!

photo 1 (3)

All right first off I am impressed with the bag this month, that is two months in a row I love the bag.  This month is a very nice quality black bag,  very chic.

 photo 2 (3)photo 3 (2)

Ok first thing I see is an eye shadow trio from Pop Beauty in Naturally Bare.  Nice colors but I have a zillion similar colors so this may or may not be re-gifted for Christmas… Sorry this is not a great picture but I don’t want to open it if I’m going to give it away.

Next is a product from a newly discovered brand that I am really loving.  Its be a…bombshell and the product that I have received this month is The One Stick in ‘Sunset’.  The One Stick is an all in one cheek, eye, lip and shimmer in a gorgeous deep coral with gold shimmer flecks.

 photo 5 (1)

Next is a not so favorite product to receive; a nail polish…I get one every month and I already have a ton that I will never be able to use in this lifetime.  This one is from Starrily and is the color ‘Bzzz Bzzz’ and is a textured polish in combination of black and yellow glitters in what looks like a clear base.

And another lip pencil!   This is new brand to me J. Cat Beauty, The Big Lip Pencil in the shade Caramel Mocha.  I like lip pencils so I am excited to try this and see how it wears.

 photo 1 (5)

And lastly is a set of Ardell Lashes the 120 Demi, which I think I already have this pair…if not they are super similar.  Not quite what I was expecting to find in my Ipsy bag, I can get Ardell lashes at Walmart, so this product doesn’t excite me as much as some of the others.  Don’t get me wrong I will use them I just expect more high end/unique brands to be represented in my Ipsy bag monthly.

November Ipsy Bag!

Hello Beauties!  So I decided to start sharing what I receive in my Ipsy bag with you all.  And I will do my best to use every product and write a review about it here. If you are not familiar with Ipsy it is a beauty subscription service that cost $10 a month. When you sign up you fill out a survey about your likes and dislikes regarding beauty products so each bag is customized to you.   This is my third Ipsy bag and so far I am very happy with what I have received.  Like any subscription box/bag, you may always find a few things you don’t like but I have yet to be totally disappointed with an entire bag. I am also subscribed to Birchbox which is a beauty box that is also $10.  If you would like me to do a comparison between Ipsy and Birchbox please let me know and I will write a post.

So here is what your Ipsy bag looks like when it comes in the mail…

photo 1

And when I opened it this is what greeted me!

photo 2

First off, I love love love the bag!! This is the first bag from Ipsy that I would actually use.  The others I have received were ok, but did look on the cheap side.  This one is really nice quality and totally fits with the November theme of “Glam It Up”.

First off is a Travel Size TRESemmé Extra Firm Control hairspray.  This is perfect timing as I leave tomorrow on vacation to Hawaii.

 photo

Now on to what is actually inside the adorable gold bag!

The first thing I see when I open the bag is a .em Michelle Phan Lip Balm in the color ‘Sorbet’  I have never used any products from Michelle Phan’s makeup line so I am excited to try this.

photo (2)

Next we have a eyeliner from StarLooks in the color ‘Topaz’ this liner is super soft so I am worried that it may be too soft and easily smudge and leave me with Topaz colored raccoon eyes.  I don’t know if you can tell in the swatch but the color is very metallic silver and has lots of sparkle, so it definitely has the ‘Glam It Up’ look.

Now I see a Pixi Beauty Bronzer in ‘Subtly Suntouched’.  I am very excited to try this as with my fair skin it is hard to find a bronzer that is not too orange or too dark. This color looks about right.

photo (3)

And guess what I see next… a nail polish!  Ok the color is nice but seriously I have sooo many nail polishes and to me this color is nothing special, I am sure I can find a dupe easily in my own collection.  This is from Nailtini in the color ‘Champagne’ which looks like a sparkly rose gold.  I have never used the brand Nailtini so I am anxious to try this see how the formula applies and wears.

photo (9)

And lastly I have a lip crayon from be a…bombshell (side note, love the name!) in the color ‘Hot Damn’.  This shade looks like a cross between a pinky red and a orangey red.  I can’t really say which it is so I am going to say it is a pink-orange red.  I am also excited to try this and from the swatch it goes on very smoothly and has a nice finish.  I will wear it one day and report on staying power and glossiness.

Just from the initial first look this Ipsy bag has been a home run for me.  All of the products minus the hairspray are new brands and/or products for me so it will truly be a test and review for all of them. If you are interested you can join me on ipsy and subscribe to the Glam Bag!
