So…. if you have been reading my blog for any length of time you know that I’ve struggled with acne for what seems like forever. We are talking about over half my life (great now I feel old…) I thought (and my parents thought) that this was just the normal run of the mill teenage acne and it would clear up but as I’m looking at hitting my 3rd decade of life this year and STILL have the pesky horrible bumps I decided that I should let a professional handle this. If anyone has ever had acne you know what a toll it takes on your self esteem. And you’ve probably heard from everyone what you should do. And guess what you’ve probably done it all! I swear I have used every single over the counter acne wash and treatment plan known to man. Chemical, natural, nothing at all…. I’ve done it all and nothing works for an extended period of time. I was browsing Pinterst late one night (don’t we all…) and saw an ad for YoDerm. I will start out by saying YoDerm has absolutely no clue who I am or that I’m doing this. I’m not sponsored by the company and honestly I don’t know how I feel about them yet anyways.
Basically YoDerm is a dermatologist that you visit online. I’m all for trying new things and I thought what the heck! You fill out what they call a “consultation” which is a detailed form about your past acne medications and treatments, how long you’ve had acne, and the like. And you also submit three pictures of your face! The fee for the consultation is $59.00. Honestly I was willing to pay this amount because a few weeks earlier I had decided to finally book an appointment with a local dermatologist and found someone covered by my insurance and booked an appointment… for four weeks out. That was the fastest they could get me in. And the office visit was going to cost me $50.00. So for $9 more I could have a doctor get back to me within 48 hours… Sounds like a win-win.
Right now YoDerm is available in California, Texas, Florida, New York, Illinois, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Georgia, North Carolina, Michigan, Washington, Arizona, Indiana, Tennessee, Missouri, Wisconsin, Minnesota & Colorado; As this is where they have licensed dermatologists.
I filled out the consultation and submitted my photos on Wednesday night March 30 and before 6pm on Thursday March 31, my assigned Doctor had reviewed my information and sent me my treatment plan and my prescriptions had already been sent to the pharmacy I had requested on my consultation form. My treatments plan is as follows::
AM:
– Aczone
– Sunscreen
PM:
– Aczone
– Differin
– Acticlate
– Moisturizer
So I have three different medications. Aczone and Differin are topical and Acticlate is oral. Today is 3 weeks since I’ve started the process and I can see some minor changes. I know that this is not going to be an overnight fix and my instructions were to use the three products for two months before getting back in touch with my dermatologist via YoDerm.
I am hopeful that my acne will finally be cleared up and I want to help other people who have the same issues. I know what it is like to hate your face and skin and if I can help one person then its worth it 🙂 Next Friday I will include an update with pictures of what my face looks like now compared to my initial submitted pictures which are below. And trust me this is my skin on a good day and it has improved since my teenage acne but its still not great.

:: Again, I’m not sponsored or paid by YoDerm to talk about them. After my first consultation I was given a code to share with my friends that allows them to start at a discount and I will get a $20 gift card from Amazon if anyone signs up::
