** CeraVe Healing Ointment Full Size $14.63 for 5 oz which if my math is correct makes this sample of 0.085 worth about 35 cents… ok I’m hoping that the rest of this box will make up for this 🙂

** Burt Bee’s BB Cream with Noni Extract and SPF 15 ( I wasn’t able to find this on the Walmart website so the link is for Target. $14.99 for 1.7 oz the sample size is 0.03 oz so again using “special math” I’ll say this is worth 45 cents.

** Neutrogena Acne Correct & Cover Pink Grapefruit Moisturizer is $8.99 for 1.7 oz which makes this about $5.29 per ounce.  There is not a listing on the sample which tells me how much is in the package but it looks about the same size as the Burts Bee BB Cream so we are going to go with 0.03 oz which would equal 16 cents.

** L’Oreal Paris Age Perfect Cell Renewal Golden Serum Treatment is $18.97 for 1 oz so this should be easy! But no there is not weight on the sample size so again seeing as it looks about the same as the others we will just guess its about 0.03! Which means this is worth a grand total of 57 cents!

** Neutrogena MoistureSmooth Color Stick, in the shade Pink Grapefruit retails for $7.97 cents for 0.011 oz of product now this is where it gets fun as the price for ounce is $724.54 Sooo….. we are just going to be generous and say that this is worth 5 bucks; everyone good with that?! 🙂

Want a subscription box but paying $10+ dollars on products that you wouldn’t buy anyway not really your thing?  Then guess what, The Walmart Beauty Box may be for you!!  The box comes out with every season (4 times a year) and costs just $5.00 per box!   I was luck enough to nab the Fall box (which is now sold out 😦 ) But you can get on the list for the Winter Box that ships at the end of November!!   In this box I received 9 products and 3 of them were full size items that in total were worth $18.00.  So this box tripled in value with just 3 items!!

DIY Friday:: Make Your Own Sea Salt Spray

Why spend $5-$25 on sea salt spray to achieve beachy waves when you can make it yourself in under 5 minutes for a fraction of the cost?  Its super simple, which means even I can do it, so you can too!  You will need a few items and I’m pretty sure 1 if not 2 of these items you already have.

1. 1 Cup of water (you should have this at home)

2. 1  1/2 Teaspoon of Sea Salt (there’s a 50/50 chance you have this)

3. 1 Teaspoon of Hair Gel (there’s a pretty good chance you have this too, or you can be like me and steal it from your brothers bathroom…) 

4. A spray bottle ( you can pick one up from the drugstore for under $2 or be green and use an empty bottle)

5. A few drops of Argan Oil ***(this can be costly, see if a friend has some and ask to steal a few drops!)

 

Heat the water in the microwave or on the stove and add the salt, gel and argan oil and stir until dissolved.  Once the water has cooled pour it into your spray bottle.  I make sure before every use I give the bottle a good shake.  Its really that simple!!

*** While it may seem counterproductive the oil isn’t optional.  This is what keeps the spray from making your hair look dry and feeling brittle and hay like.  My hair is fine and leans towards oily but if you have dry or coarse hair you will need to add a little more. ***

July Hit and Misses

July went by super fast! I seriously cannot believe we are now in the month of August. On to my hit and misses for the month of July….

Hot Mama Shadow/Blush from the Balm $20.00

I received this as a sample in my Birchbox several months ago. This blush is super pigmented (as are most Balm blushes) so be careful or you could end up looking like a clown and have to do some retouching. This blush is a peachy pink hue and has a touch of shimmer. It is advertised as a blush and eyeshadow in one. I have not used this as a eye shadow but I could see with a neutral eye this would be a showstopping accent in the crease or corner. I am excited to try it as an eye shadow and I love products that do more then one thing!

Equate Everyday Clean Dandruff Shampoo $3.44

As a teen my hair was crazy, I had super oily hair that I had to wash everyday but I also had dandruff. Go figure… In the past six months or so my dandruff issues have come back to visit. I think it is related to hormones as I only seem to have this problem one week a month…. If you catch my drift…. I was using Head and Shoulders which worked great but I am always on the hunt for a bargain. The Equate (Walmart house brand) is $1.53 cheaper then the name brand and works just as well. Although this is advertised as a two in one shampoo and conditioner I found that my ends were getting dry. So I stated adding a deep conditioner or mask just to the ends of my hair after washing, it seems to have done the trick.

Organix Moroccan Penetrating Oil $5.74

I think this hair oil is just a good Josie Maran Argan Oil Hair Serum. And at a discount of $24.26 I will take the Organix! At target the Oragnix Moroccan Argan Oil is $5.74 for 3.3 ounces. The Josie Maran is $12.00 for .5 ounces, $30.00 for 2.0 ounces and $50.00 for 4.0 ounces. I have used both and I found that Oragnix works the same. A little goes as long way, I have been using this for over three months and I have barely put a dent in the bottle.

TRUE COLOR Eyeshadow Duo – Fiji Paradise in Sunkissed $3.49 Regularly $7.00

I am rarely disappointed in Avon eyeshadows and this duo is no exception. I love the color combo of gold and coral. I have also used the lighter gold shade as a highlight and it looks amazing. These are creamy powders that apply easily with a brush or with your fingers. Love Love Love!!!

Charlotte Russe Layered Beads and Chains Necklace in Mint $6.oo

I cannot go into Charlotte Russe without buying jewelry, I have tired many times and always walk out with something. I just can’t help it, they have on trend and classic styles at super affordable prices, I just can’t say no! Mint is totally in right now and I love how this necklace softly incorporates the on trend color with crystal and gold. Adore this necklace I wear it at least once a week.

This product was a miss for me. I think for someone with drier or combination skin it would work well, but it did my super oily skin no favors. I did not really notice a reduction in the appearance of my pores but mostly my disappointment is that my skin was very greasy within a few hours of application. It did not do much of anything in keeping my oil under control.
