What makes this product unique?
This mask’s unique formula beautifully balances skin by absorbing excess oil without over-drying or making it feel tight. It also doesn’t include irritating, skin-damaging ingredients such as menthol, peppermint, or alcohol. The clay’s drawing action helps dislodge blackheads and cellular debris, while the soothing blend of anti-inflammatory agents reduce redness and irritation. Product easily rinses away leaving skin soft, matte and smooth.

This product is 100% fragrance-free.

Who is this product for?
Skin Balancing Oil-Absorbing Mask is recommended for those with normal to oily/combination skin. Excellent for breakout- and blackhead-prone skin, too.

Mask Monday:: Royal Apothic Cuppa Cuppa Firming Tea Treatment Mask

I received this mask in a birchbox and after it was sitting in my bathroom for oh I don’t know a good nine months I decided I should give it a try.

$_1

What It Is: A firming clay facial mask with tea leaves.

What It Does: Leaves skin firmer and brighter.

Key Ingredients: Green, White and Black Tea Leave Extracts and Kaolin Clay.

How it Looks/Feels/Smells: This has a bit of gritty texture and the leaves remind me of the Glamglow Youthmud Tinglexfoliate Treatment.  It has a nice fresh scent and it does make my face tingle (which I like 🙂 )

Why I Like It/Don’t Like It: This reminds me of a glamglow mask and I do think that it made my skin look brighter as soon as it was removed.  It is a middle of the road for pricing (more then drugstore but less expensive then glamglow)

$12.00 on both Birchbox and the Royal Apothic Website

Mask Monday:: DIY Charcoal and Glue Mask!

You may have seen this floating around various social media sites.  It was too weird and cool to not try out so here you go!

IMG_1616

What You Will Need::

  • Activated Charcoal (not what you use to BBQ!!! )
  • Good Ole Elmer’s Glue ( It is non toxic and is similar to what is used in pore strips to make them stick!)
  • Something to mix up your charcoal and glue concoction.

PicMonkey Collage

** Be careful!  The charcoal can make a bit of a mess so stir with care 🙂

I only applied the mask to the lower half of my face as that is my problem area. But I have seen people put it all over their face but I would be careful to avoid your eyebrows or any place with hair you don’t want removed… More on that in a bit.

IMG_1632

Nice and wet on my face. Also I forgot to mention I did steam my face for a bit before doing this to open up alllll my pores.  Now we wait…

IMG_1634

After about 25 minutes the mask was dry and it was impossible to move my face so I knew it was ready.  Now comes the fun part… the peeling!

IMG_1636

Why do we (I’m hoping I’m not the only one….) find such intrigue in peeling things off our bodies?  After the peeling process I of course examined the mask to see what junk was pulled out!

IMG_1638

This isn’t the best picture in the world but you can see some yucky stuff!  It also pulled out tiny hairs which is why you want to be careful where you put this.  I did not find it painful to pull off my face.  Now I’m not saying it was pleasant but it was kind of like peeling/pulling off a band-aid.  And it will depend on your tolerance for pain.  My mom later did the mask and she said it hurt.

So…. Is this a win? I think so, I’ve done this a total of three times now (over about a month) and everytime I get yucky juck out of my pores and the little teeny tiny hairs.

Where to Find Activated Charcoal!

Nature’s Way on Amazon (what I bought)- $6.70

Many sites so that they found this at the drug store (Wal-Mart, Target etc) but I was unable to find it in mine which is why I bought it online.

  • Face Wash: This is a hard one.  I haven’t really stuck to anything this year as I’ve been trying to use up all my mini sample and deluxe size samples from various beauty boxes.  I do however about twice a week use the Mario Badescu Glycolic Foaming Cleanser
  • Facial Scrub: Lush Ocean Salt

New York Color Liquid Lipshine in Rivington Rose — $2-$4 depending on where you buy it

photo (2)

This is a great neutral mauve-y pink that goes with anything.  And it makes your lips look glossy without being sticky and you can’t beat the price!

e.lf. Studio Contour Palette — $6.00

PicMonkey Collage

This Contour Palette is the bomb dot com!  I absolutely love it.  All of the shades (two bronzer and two highlighters) are pigmented and blend really well.  The highlighters are not super shiny or glittery so if that’s what you like you will not be a fan of these, but if like me you like a little sheen and brightening you will love them.

Covergirl Clump Crusher Mascara — $ 6.99-7.99 depending where you buy.

cg_clump_crusher_mascara

This is one of those products that I’ve heard people rave about and I just never tried it.  Ulta had a sale on Covergirl so I decided to give this a whirl and I have to say I’m very impressed.  Definitely separates the lashes (no clumps duh!) but it still give volume and length.

theBalm CabanaBoy Blush — $21.00

PicMonkey Collage123

This blush is a dusty rose color with a plum overtone that is perfect for fall!  I think I wore it every day this week.  Also never pay full price for products from theBalm.  Their website has sales all the time and they are also on Hautelook quite a bit.  You might want to also check out your local Kohl’s their products can often be found there as well.

Orgins Clear Improvement Active Charcoal Mask to Clear Pores — $25.00

s1375773-main-hero-300

This mask features activated charcoal which acts like a magnet to draw out deep-dwelling pore-cloggers. It also has White China clay which absorbs environmental toxins, and lecithin dissolves impurities. Lots of fancy talk to say that this mask makes my skin feel amazing.  Very soft and smooth and the areas that get congested with grease and gunk (nose, cheeks and sometimes chin) feel cleaned and refreshed after using this!

L’Oreal Infallible Silkissime Eye Liner in True Teal –$7.99-8.99 Depending on where you buy it

images

I decided to try this eye liner after hearing one of favorite Youtubers Coffee Break with Dani  rave about it earlier this year.  I picked up True Teal for me and Black for my mom.  These eye liners are great for your water and tight line.  For the most part they don’t move and if they do fade I don’t get weird goop in the corner of my eyes like most eyeliners do to me.  When Ulta has a sale on L’oreal I will be picking up a few more of these!

Let me know what you enjoyed in the month of September and what you are looking forward to in October!

Mask Monday:: Avon Clearskin Pore Penetrating Black Mineral Mask

PicMonkey Collage123

When I first saw this mask I was hoping that it would be dupe for the GlamGlow Supermud Clearing Mask (which I’ve done a review on) and about $60.00 cheaper.  While it is a good mask it doesn’t in my opinion hold a candle to the GlamGlow Mask.  It works in a similar manner; it goes on black and as it dries turns grey as it ‘draws out impurities’.  I like using this as an everyday mask and reserve the GlamGlow for special occasions as it really does transform your skin.

PicMonkey Collage159

I also compared the ingredient list of the two masks and they do have some similar ingredients but not enough to say that the Avon is a dupe for GlamGlow.

Products Mentioned::

Avon Clearskin Pore Penetrating Black Mineral Mask– $6.99

GlamGlow Supermud Clearing Mask– $69.00
