Now you are probably thinking that the top row looks very similar in color and tone.  I thought the same while swatching so I decided to put the colors I thought were similar side by side.

IMG_0356

Latte is more brown compared to Café which has more of peachy tone.

Pepper is more brown toned compared to Cortado which looks more Mauve when compared side by side.

Latte and Pepper are very close in color and tone. Pepper is a little more of a deeper brown tone but they are super close. I don’t think you need both Latte/Cortado  and Pepper/Cafe since Latte and Pepper are so close you would just need to decide if you liked Cortdao or Cafe better.

These lipsticks are limited edition and can be found in store and online at Sephora for $14.00

Ulta Haul and the Story of the Sewer Lip Crayon…

My mom and I had a girls day and went to the Verizon store for them to tell me there was nothing they could do about my phone losing time, lunch, a movie (The Man from U.N.C.L.E  Soooo good had bad reviews which means it’s awesome) and then some shopping at Ross, Ulta and Versona. All that to say I’m going to share what I picked up from Ulta; and tell you the tale of the Sewer Lip Crayon.

Maybelline was buy one get one 50% off so I picked up my old favorite Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Circle Treatment Concealer in the Brightener shade and something new for me to try the Oil Control Translucent Pressed Powder in Soft Cameo.  I haven’t used it yet but I’ll give an update when I do.

 PicMonkey Collage

I’ve been using the Simple Micellar Water after cleansing to make sure I get all my makeup off and I have just a tiny bit left so I decided to pick up the All Bright Micellar Cleanser from Boots.  Also haven’t used this yet but I’ll let you know if it’s as good or not as the Simple.  Also I’ve never used Bioderma which is what I would consider the Grandfather (would that be grandmother..?) of Micellar Cleansers/Waters.

I was in search of a volumizng powder since mine disappeared… I found the Batiste XXL Plumping Powder and I have used this and it works pretty well.

I have heard great things about the Rimmel Lasting Finish Foundation so I thought why not add to my foundation collection and give this one a try?  (sidenote I’m almost out of my Revlon Colorstay so I justified this purchase…  🙂 ) Guess what people?  This Foundation is the bomb dot com.  For real it is my new Favorite.  It is medium to full coverage and it somehow looks better the longer you wear it.

I also picked up the Philosophy Here Comes the Bride kit just so I could get the *free gift* which was this awesome Weekender Bag!  The Philosophy Kit will go to good use as I’m sure I’ll have a bride to gift it to at some point 🙂

My sister in law bought my mom a makeup kit from Ulta and my mom fell in love with one of the lip crayons in the kit named Love Story.  While my mom was visiting my sister in Colorado she was applying her makeup in the car (does everyone’s mom do this or just mine…?) My mom opened her car door at a stop sign because it wasn’t closed all the way and her lip crayon which was on her lap fell off and rolled down the street into a sewer drain.  You can’t make this stuff up people.  So we were on a hunt to find her a replacement lip crayon in the color Love Story.  Our Ulta was out of that color so I ordered it online for her but the story was too good to not share.  I placed the order a few days after our visit so I texted her and let her know that I had ordered her ‘Two sewer lip crayons’

Birchbox Haul!

IMG_5455

I had some Birchbox points sitting just screaming to be used so I decided to pick up a few things from the Birchbox shop!  One of the things I love about Birchbox is their points system which translate into cold hard cash for you to use on whatever you want in the shop.

Benefit Gimme Brow

PicMonkey Collage

Birchbox Breakdown

We spend more time than is reasonable lusting after Camilla Belle’s bold brows—which is why we’re more than a little excited about this magical brush-building invention. Just a few brush strokes deliver fuller, darker brows that stay in place all day and still manage to look natural. We told you it was magic.

How it Works

The water-resistant fiber gel adheres to skin and hair and comes in two colors: light-medium and medium-deep. The tapered brush with a precision tip lets you shape and blend with ease.

Benefit BeneBalm

PicMonkey Collage456

Birchbox Breakdown

It used to be that if you were looking to add just a touch of natural color to your lips, your best bet was to chow down on a strawberry Popsicle. Benefit has a more practical (and portable) solution: this tinted lip balm. Modeled after the brand’s iconic lip and cheek tints, the creamy formula hydrates and conditions lips while providing a wash of sheer, barely-there red.

How it Works

This rose-tinted balm softens and smooths dry lips with a blend of mango butter and sodium hyaluronate.

Yes to Tomatoes Blemish Clearing Towelettes

IMG_5458

Birchbox Breakdown

In a perfect world, we’d fully commit a portion of our precious evening time to washing, toning, moisturizing, and pampering our skin. In reality, we’re lucky if we remember to take off our makeup before we face-plant into our pillows (not exactly the recipe for a flawless complexion). That’s why we’re stocking up on these facial wipes. In the time it takes to get up and turn off our lights, we’re able to wipe away makeup, unclog pores, and fight off blemishes.

How it Works

These 97 percent natural wipes gently cleanse, exfoliate, and treat blemish-prone skin. Tomato extract reduces inflammation caused by angry breakouts, controls oil production, and protects skin from environmental agents that can cause acne. Salicylic acid sloughs off dead skin cells and opens up clogged pores, accelerating the healing process. Plus, it’s free of unwanted ingredients like petroleum, SLS, and parabens.

 Ahmad Tea London Bus Caddy

IMG_5462

Birchbox Breakdown

In addition to all-things Kate Middleton, London is famous for its red double-decker buses. As it turns out, they’re good for more than ferrying tourists—they’re also an excellent (and handsome) way to store our tea. This continental caddy holds 25 bags of the best-in-class brand’s English Afternoon blend. When you’ve exhausted its supply, just refill it with your favorite Ahmad Tea.

How it Works

Part musky, part lemony, this English Afternoon Tea combines Indian, Ceylon, and Kenyan leaves to create a tasty p.m. brew.

Ok so if you are not on board with Birchbox what are you waiting for?!  One of the reasons I keep coming back to Birchbox is their points system where you use your points to buy products in the Shop. You can get points a few different ways: One is by referring people (50 points),  buying products in the shop (1 point for every $1 spent), and by reviewing the products you received in your box (10 points for each review).  And… 100 points=$10.  So with a little math you can see that if you review all your products every month, you will get, on average, $5 in points a month.  I like to look at that as getting my box for half price!

Lush Haul!

Its a good thing Lush is a fair distance from my house.  Otherwise my wallet would be empty!  I was over that way last week and I did “need” to restock on two items that I keep in my skincare rotation.  So lets dive into what I got/needed! 🙂

photo (9)

Up first is something that I “needed” it is Ocean Salt. Here is what Lush has to say…

Washing with Ocean Salt is like taking your face on a trip to the seaside for an invigorating splash in the water. The minerals in sea salt soften as it scrubs away dirt, dead skin and blockages for a bright, fresh face. We mix in fresh avocado and coconut to hydrate thirsty skin, leaving it balanced and soft. The cleansing effects of lime and vodka are ideal for blocked pores, blackheads or blemishes and leave skin visibly brightened. It’s no wonder Ocean Salt is so enormously popular!

Bottom Line:: This is a must have for me in my scrub collection.  If I could only have one scrub for the rest of my life this would be it. If you can’t tell, I like it, no I love it.

PicMonkey Collage89

Next is a sample of Let The Good Times Roll.  Lush says…

A luxuriously soft and sweetly-scented cleanser, Let The Good Times Roll has quickly become a huge fan favorite. Maize flour, corn meal and a dash of cinnamon powder gently exfoliate and leave you with a vibrant glow, and lightly hydrating corn oil helps skin to retain its moisture and elasticity. With its rich butter-caramel fragrance and velvety texture, no wonder this one is so popular!

Bottom Line:: This was a limited cleanser only out at holidays (it smells like a sugar cookie!) but due to high demand it was made a part of the permanent collection this year.  Because of its popularity I knew I needed to give it a try and asked for a sample.  My skin is oily so I use this at night as it is made for those with drier skin.

photo 1 (2)

Dark Angels is the other thing I “needed” at Lush.

Black sugar and charcoal gently exfoliate and absorb excess oils to leave dull, oily or acne-prone skin feeling fresh and matte. Even oily skin can be sensitive, so we’ve made this one soft and soothing to calm redness and irritation, too. Its rhassoul mud base deep-cleanses to help prevent breakouts while vitamin rich cold-pressed organic avocado oil nourishes skin to leave it soft and lightly hydrated. Use all over for perfectly smooth, bright skin. An angel indeed!

Bottom Line::  I use this as a cleanser once or twice a week and it really helps clarify and tighten the skin.

PicMonkey Collage456

I’ve used up all of my regular size bottles of shampoo so I decided to give two of Lush Shampoo Bars New! and Jumping Juniper a try.  I’ve used it before (just not the two I bought) and I liked it.

There’s nothing exactly new about our stimulating cinnamon and clove shampoo bar, we call it that because it’s made for people who want NEW! hair! When stress or life goes to your head and your hair starts thinning, motivate those tired scalps with spice and mint oils. It’s intense, (in the best possible way), but works wonders on irritated scalps or hair that’s thinning. Rosemary and nettle herbs rejuvenate, and make your hair shiny and soft as a feather. All of this, in one beautifully spicey bar; are you ready for a NEW! shampoo?

Our purple shampoo bar jumps into action to sort out oil problems on top. It cleans away grease and balances sebum production for soft, shiny (in the good way) hair. Fruity juniperberry oil sorts out your oily, congested scalp, while lemon and lime make your hair clean and shiny and give it an extra fresh scent. The incredible herbal duo, lavender and rosemary are superpowers if you’re having troubles in the oil department. Rosemary has been used for hundreds of years for its anti-bacterial capabilities, while lavender is known for its ability to balance and soothe the scalp. You’ll be jumping for joy in no time!

Bottom Line:: I haven’t used these yet so I will keep you updated on my thoughts!

photo 4

If you buy shampoo you also have to buy conditioner to go with it…

Vegans and fine haired folks around the world rejoice! Veganese is our lightest, conditioner that takes hair without volume and makes it go va-va-VOOM! The majority of LUSH products are vegan, but making a vegan conditioner without lanolin took us a few years to perfect. It was worth the wait. We use agar seaweed gel as a natural hair softener instead of lanolin, and blend in generous helpings of lemon oil to create the perfect vegan conditioner to leave you with tons of gloss and shine. We also added in the scalp soothing effects of lavender and rosemary to keep you sorted on top

Bottom Line:: I haven’t used this yet either but I will let you know!

photo 5

Lastly I got a Fresh Face Mask.  I have used these before (they only sell in store because they must be kept rerefrigerated) but Cupcake is a new one for me.

Cupcake is our one Fresh Face Mask that was created for a bit of fun. At the time, our inventor’s daughter was a young girl having slumber parties with her girlfriends every weekend, so he whipped up a chocolate mint mask for young, oily skin (officially solidifying him as the coolest dad ever). If you suffer from oily or spotty skin, slather it in this cocoa concoction. With spearmint oil to cool, vanilla absolute to calm redness and Rhassoul mud to deeply cleanse- Cupcake is a sweet savior for young faces. Smothering yourself in chocolate for clearer skin? Every teenage girl’s dream.

Bottom Line:: Used this Sunday night and loved it!  I will need to use it a few more times but expect to see a Mask Monday in the near future.

Let Me Know What Your Favorites Are From Lush Or What You Want To Try!

Sephora Haul

Well, I went a little crazy at Sephora, but seriously how can you not? I either go in the store or look online for one thing or just to browse and end up with a ton of new stuff! I think they have something in the air that makes you think you need everything in the store…Please back me up on this!  But I really have no excuse as I bought this haul online and the air I was breathing was my own….

First off, I finally bit the bullet and splurged on the TooFaced Chocolate Bar Palette.  It is totally worth the hype, if you run in beauty circles, you all know about it and that it smells like Chocolate! Ahhh so heavenly!  I’m pretty sure heaven will smell like chocolate or freshly baked bread… One of those two. Anywho the colors are gorgeous and pigmented and did I mention it smells like chocolate?  🙂

Look for a review and an eye look to appear on the blog soon!  I’m thinking of doing seven days of chocolate bar, like I did with the Balm’s Nude’ Tude palette.  Let me know if that is something you guys would like to see!

I also added benefit’s Feeling Dandy Perk Me Up… Lip and Cheek Kit to my shopping cart.

PicMonkey Collage98

I have used high beam before and I like it and I am almost out of my little sample size so another little one is nice. I not used any of Benefit’s lip and cheek stains before so I am excited to try Posietint.

PicMonkey Collage8989898

As you can see you have to work fast with the tint, as it left a stain on my arm and didn’t completely sheer out.  Also in this kit is a mini Dandelion highlighter and lip gloss.  After reading the reviews on Sephora I think a lot of people are confused as they said they didn’t care for the Dandelion powder but that is because they referred to it as a blush.  It is not a blush it is a highlighting powder so don’t expect a lot of pigmentation as that is not its purpose.  The dandelion gloss is great and I really like it.

PicMonkey Collage89898986569

I had some Sephora Points to use so the next three items are my extra 100 point perks.  Up first is Tarte’s Cheek Stain in Flush.  First off this smells amazing!  It has a fruity scent and the formula is great.  It has a smooth application and blends like a dream.

PicMonkey Collage

Next is Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Bronzer.  I have used this bronzer before and I know I like it so it wasn’t a hard sell.

PicMonkey Collage5656

Last in my point perk shopping cart is a Elizabeth and James perfume in Nirvana White.  It is described as a “captivating blend of delicate peony, chic muguet, and tender musk for a feminine scent with dark sophistication.” Whatev’s it smells delightful!

photo (2)

With a minimum purchase (which I met…)  I could get a deluxe sample size of Fresh Sugar Lip  Treatment in Rose.  I have used this before and I like it a lot so I was happy to add it to my cart!

Starlooks 15 Shade Shadow Palette Part 1

If you read my blog you know I have a slight obsession with beauty subscription boxes.  Through my Ipsy box (or bag…) I was introduced to the brand Starlooks.  They are a Pro quality makeup line and on their site say they are comparable to Makeup Forever, Sephora, M.A.C, Chanel, Dior etc.  They also have their own beauty subscription box which I have not yet tried.

Ipsy has started offering specials where subscribers can buy brand name products at reduced prices for a limited time and there are also limited quantities.  When a Starlooks Fifteen Eye shadow Palette became available for $20.00 I placed my order immediately.  I knew from other bloggers that this brand ran on the expensive side, but to say I was shocked that the regular price for this palette was $99.00 would be quite the understatement.

PicMonkey Collage123

It was hard for me to pluck down $54 for a Naked palette ( I ended up using a gift card for a portion of it so I didn’t feel too bad…) so I can tell you it would take a lot for me to buy the Starlooks Palette full price.  And by a lot I mean I half expected these eye shadows to sing and dance.  When you look at drug store brands like Almay, Maybelline, and L’Oreal the palette’s they offer are usually quads which range from $6-$10.   And with all of these brands in my experience, they are hit or miss on pigmentation and longevity.

One of the ways I rationalized to myself the purchase of a palette like the Naked was the cost of each individual shadow.  There are 12 shades so the cost per “eye-shadow” would be $4.50.  Now that doesn’t sound so bad.  Granted with a quad from the drugstore the cost would be $1.50-$2.50 a piece but let me have this!!  🙂    With my math skills that would make each individual shadow in the Starlooks Palette $6.60 which is roughly the cost of a L’Oreal Infallible single or Maybelline Color Tattoo.

On Friday I will have swatches and a full Review for you so stay tuned!!

Addiction Alert!!

I am such a beauty junkie that I have a set amount each month that I allow myself to spend on beauty related items.  Sometimes I buy a ton of drugstore stuff or splurge on one high end product.  And I have found a App that has fueled my addiction further by giving me high end products at lower (not quite drugstore) prices.  I have talked about the Tophatter app before on my blog.  I have not visited the app in a few months and just this weekend hopped on to see what I could find and boy did I find some deals, and I can’t wait to share them with you!  The first and probably what I am most excited about is

NARS Blush/Bronzer Duo in “the O word, and Laguna” Retail from Sephora $41.00 , Amazon $64.99 (What?! This stuff had better make me flawless for that price!!)  and Drumroll please, the price including shipping that I paid on Tophatter is… $26.00!!!!!  And yes I did a little happy dance when I won and I texted my sister to let her know of my steal.

theBalm FratBoy Shadow/Blush. This velvety smooth, peachy-apricot shadow/blush adds the perfect amount of color for a foxy flush so you look stellar around the clock. Frat Boy leaves you with a face that’s pretty and polished. Retails for $21.00 from theBalm , $14.86 on Amazon and including shipping I paid….  $12.00!!

As you can tell I am on a bit of a blush kick right now, I also bought this beautiful color from mark called “Charmed”.  This is the first blush I have used from mark and I really like it!  The pigmentation is good and it lasts all day.  Retails for $9.00 via mark

What are your ‘go to’ blushes?  Do you stick to one or two, or a plethora like me? Let me know in the comments below!!
