Ipsy March 2014

So Sorry for the long hiatus… But life happens!  On to what I got in my March Ipsy bag, and guess what guys?   I took pictures and swatches and my I lost the pics so you will just have to content yourself with stock photos.  I know, I know I’m a horrible blogger…..

Alrighty, first off, this is a very unique bag… very unique, ok, enough about the bag. Lets get to the goodies inside!!

First thing I see is BareMinerals Lipstick!! I had a sample of the Marvelous Moxie lipstick that I used once, fell in love with and then left in my car in the Florida heat.  So obviousness, I no longer have the lipstick so I was excited to get another one and I love the color ‘Get Ready’!

Up next is a nail polish Nicole for OPI in a Mint Green and with texture.  First off, I think I have at least two if not three other polishes in a similar shade.  And really the only “texture” I like on my nails is glitter.  I’m willing to give this a try but right now, I’m not super excited.

Next is an eye shadow quad from one of my favorite brands discovered via Ipsy, Be…a bombshell.   The teal is a  little brighter,  then a color I would usually wear but I was impressed with the pigmentation and I will put up a look in a few days using this quad.  Be…a bombshell has yet to disappoint!

Last I have a primer from Pixi Beauty.   I have been impressed with other Pixi Beauty products that I have used and I love me a good primer.  Look for a review to follow!

March 2014 Birchbox

Its that time again, subscription box time!!  Lets dive in and see what this month’s Birchbox holds.

Supergoop! City Sunscreen Serum  $42.00

This is a moisturizer with sunscreen that is super lightweight.  I’ve used it twice now and I really like it.  A lot of moisturizers with sunscreen have that “smell” (you know what I mean) and they tend to be a little heavy for my oily prone skin.  Not so with this, I would seriously consider buying the product.

Air Repair Rescue Balm All-Purpose Skin Salve and Lip Balm  $12.00

First off the name is quite the mouthful. Second this product is known in the industry as  the “Swiss Army Knife” of beauty products. It is described as a multitasking, all-natural skin salve can be applied anywhere and everywhere—to the lips, hands, face, knees, elbows, and even cuticles—to instantly soothe and heal dry skin.  I’m excited to try this as my lips and my elbows get super dry.

theBalm How ‘Bout Them Apples? $32.00

thebalm_howboutthemapples_900x900 (1)

I’ve never been disappointed in a product from theBalm, so I’m sure to love this!  Several YouTubers that I watch have reviewed this cream blush palette and I’ve only heard praise. And for real, the little sample is soooo cute!!

Michael Todd True Organics Pumpkin Nutrient-Rich Facial Mask  $34.00

Are you reading my mind Birchbox? I have been wanting to try Michael Todd products for over a year now and I made myself a promise that I would not buy anymore skincare products until I used what I had…. but its a sample….. and I really like it….like really like it! I’m pretty sure Michael Todd has garnered another fan.  Look for an in-depth review on an up coming Mask Monday.

Ghirardelli Intense Dark Cherry Tango

Birchbox really? Have you been reading my mind? Chocolate!  Now I have made it clear that I’m not the biggest fan of Birchbox’s “lifestyle” extras, a pen? Come on guys! But chocolate? I don’t mind finding this in my box at all.

Greenleaf Candle  $17.00

This candle made my box smell amazing.  And its little so that makes it extra cute too! Again, Birchbox I don’t mind lifestyle extra’s like candles, keep them coming.  Just hold the tea and pens please.

Sooo Ipsy has been beating Birchbox the last couple of months, but BB has really stepped up their game with this box.  And I received 6 items and not a foil packet in sight!

The Balm Bahama Mama

Bahama Mama from theBalm is one of my all time favorite Bronzers.  It is a wonderful neutral matte brown, it does not have a reddish shade which I appreciate.   A lot of bronzer (high-end and drugstore) contain shimmer (which is not good for my acne  scarred skin) and tend to come off muddy and orange on my fair skin.  This is a bronzer that I think would work on anyone with fair skin like me to a medium  skin tone.  I have also used this as an eye-shadow, it works great as a crease color.

Tangerine Lip

Everywhere I look it seems that people are trying the Tangerine Lip trend.  I wasn’t really into it at first but seeing several celebrities pull it off so gracefully made me decide to take the plunge.  My biggest tip is to keep the rest of your makeup to a minimum.  I usually go for a very neutral eye and blush when I wear a tangerine lip.  Otherwise I feel like it is too much going on and I want my lips to take center stage.

Avon Smooth Minerals Bronzer

I have used pressed powder bronzer and cream bronzer, but never a loose powder bronzer.  When I saw this in an Avon magazine, I knew I had to give it a try!  This is actually a dark foundation color and not advertised as a bronzer but I thought it might just work.  When I first received this I thought the color looked way too dark, but after using it several times now, I think its a new favorite.  The powder is super smooth and silky and blends in like a dream.

February 2014 Birchbox

Birchbox time!  First off the packaging is different than the usual pink.  The red is fun and unexpected!

February’s theme is step and Repeat, BB partnered with UsWeekly to bring us a box to get award show ready!

First off is a two in one product, shout out to multi-tasking! Whoot Whoot!! This is Eleven Skin Perfection Eye Cream + Concealer.  I’m very excited to try this as I need an eye cream and a under eye concealer as I’m about out of both.

photo 1 (2)

Next is a bar soap from Ayres in the scent Patagonia.   The base of the soap is Shea butter (super mosterizing) with essential oils of jasmine, lavender , ylang-ylang and fir.  This soap has a very strong woodsy/musk scent.  I’m excited to try this and who doesn’t use soap?!

photo 3 (2)

Up next in my little red box is a sample size paper packet, (not foil… J ) of the Juara Candlenut Body Creme.  I’ve never heard of this brand or its featured oil Candlenut so I’m curious to try this and see what the deal is.

Next is a sample of the Juicy Couture La La Malibu.  According to the packaging this perfume scent “embodies the effortlessly glam California attitudes while embracing the bold and colorful spirit of L.A. ” Don’t know about all that but the scent of mandarin and Sweet Pink Sugar is pretty awesome.

Lastly is the Beauty Protector Protect and Oil.  I have the brands detangler and it is amazing. This oil smells heavenly and I’m looking forward to using it.  I have a feeling I will fall in love and need to use some BB point’s to buy a full size…..
